Today I read the poem "Basketball: A Love Song Because It Is." I liked this poem because it made me think of my basketball games even though they aren't as professional as how the poem was describing. The one thing that stood out to me most in this poem was the descriptions that they used. How the scene was described really made me picture myself there. For example "Tired muscles", or "Pointless anxiety", reminded me of how I feel during my basketball games.

"The Lottery"

In the short story, "The Lottery", there was many common themes used. One of the themes I noticed was corruption. This town was a little bit different that a typical town that we’re used to. Every year there is a lottery that place, and when you think of a lottery you normally think of winning something really good. But with this lottery it's just the opposite; you win, you die. This tradition of killing people when they win the lottery is an annual thing, so people surely don't question the procedure. Before they start drawing the cards, the one thing that I noticed was how people were acting , so their emotion and reaction to what was going on told me that this wasn't a normal lottery. The lottery starts, and all the men of the households are in charge of picking the cards. Once everyone is done drawing the cards, you see who has one the lottery and if you happen to have a mysterious black dot on your card, you have just been elected to die! Mr. Hutchinson in this story  chose the card with the black dot, and he was later stoned to death. When you really think about just the whole idea of killing people and having this lottery; you think of a town that is very messed up.

Creative Writing

Well, all my other sunflower friends have died. The weather has been bad recently so maybe that's why they all died. Or it could have been because of the lack of sunlight we've had around here lately. Who knows, but all I know is that I'm really lonely and I don't want to be here right now. The only thing here to keep me company is the 50 bees that land on top of me every hour. I'd rather be dead, and laying a garden in the dirt then being here alone like this.

Someone please come pick me… TO BE CONTINUED

Character Analysis- Belly

In the book "The Summer I Turned Pretty"  by Jenny Han, Belly is a teenage girl going through the problems like a typical teenager. Every summer her family and some of their friends go to a beach house, so it's kind of like a tradition for them. The summers are full of time on the beach, swimming and spending quality time with family.  Ever since they've been going to the beach house, there was a guy that Belly saw, and really liked, his name is Conrad. Immediately when she saw him, she knew that she really liked him. But, when she is at the beach house over the summer, that changes how she behaves.

Over the summer, she met a guy named Cam. At first he seemed really nice, and Belly actually really liked him. But when he started getting deep feelings for her; she held back, and didn't feel the same way because in the back of her mind there was Conrad. Throughout the course of the summer, Belly and Cam spent a lot of time just the two of them. As the summer progressed I noticed a big change in the way Belly was acting around her family, as a result she spent less time with them. Personally, I believe the fact that she was missing what she had with Conrad changed her into a different person. Whether you miss a friend that you used to have, a boyfriend or girlfriend, someone that's passed on; everybody can relate to having that empty feeling.

One character that I thought of right away that I connected to Belly was Anna Fitzgerald from "My Sisters Keeper." Anna was having family problems, she didn't feel loved or valued by them so as a result she spent less and less time with her parents. Both girls are similar because the get distracted with little things, and then they turn in into a bigger problem by kind of pushing their families to the side.

Everybody should maintain a stable and strong relationship with their parents because they are always willing to help you with anything, and when you have nobody else by your side, it can be comforting knowing at least you have the people that love you most with you.

My Sisters Keeper Prediction

My Sister's Keeper is a heart wrenching book about a young girl with leukemia and the struggles her family has to go through. Kate Fitzgerald, the girl with cancer has a sister Anna, and a brother. Anna was born to save Kate. Throughout her whole life she has been forced to undergo procedures to try and help Kate. Some of them include multiple bone marrow transplants and also she has to give blood quite often too. Now they are at a point where Anna took her parents to court because she doesn’t want them to make medical decisions for her any more.

I predict that after they get done in court that Sara Fitzgerald, Anna's mom will end up having a lot of guilt about what she's put her through. For all the year of Anna's life, her parents have been making all of her decisions for her. When they were in court, Campbell Alexander, the lawyer was asking Sara about everything that Anna has been through. He was asking about the blood drawings, bone marrow transplants and all the other medical procedures she's had to have done. I think as he was talking to her about all these things she was starting to think about some of the decisions she's made and how maybe they weren't all that good.  They basically set her up for a "guilt trip." Which personally in my opinion wasn't a bad thing because maybe now she will realize that what she's done has hurt her daughter.

Something that I could for see happening in the future is Anna and her mom mostly but possibly her dad too, having no relationship. I don't think they're going to talk any more because Anna is always going to remember the pain she had to go through as a child, so therefore she will always hold a grudge towards her parents. At some points In the book her dad mentions how he sometimes disagreed with the procedures that they  were doing, but he knew he had to make Anna do them to save Kate's life. In my opinion at some point you have to think about how much you are really going to do, just to try and cure a very deadly disease like cancer. There comes a time where you can't try any more and you just need to let the person be rest because you don't want them to suffer. Not that they want Kate to die, but in the mean time they sort of forgot about Anna.

Mothers Day 2012

"Well Kate, Anna and I haven't talked in six months now. I don't understand why she's mad at me, I never did anything wrong."

"Okay Mom, hold on I'm going to go call her real quick."

"Anna, you realize it's mothers day today right?"

"Yeah why?"

"Mom just asked about you, I mean are you coming over here today or not?"

"Psh no, why would I do that?"

"Okay Anna, but this is really going to hurt her feelings."

"Why would I care after all the pain that she's put me through?

"I'm sorry Anna, you didn't deserve to go through all those struggles just to try and save my life. It should've been your decision about what you wanted to do all along. I'm sorry."

"Kate, this isn't your fault."

"I know, I just feel like I've caused so many problems, and so much tension in this house."

"Well don't worry about it, now you better go hang out with mom(BOTH GIRLS LAUGH)"

"Bye Anna, text me later."

Expect the Unexpected

Have you ever thought of donating an organ, or how just how one little thing can save somebody's life? Many people have issues with organs in their body, and then they need to get a transplant. Before you can just get a random person's organ, you have to make sure that you both match certain things.  In "My Sister's Keeper "everybody knew that they only way Kate was going to live was if she got a kidney transplant. The decision had to be made fast. How was she going to get a kidney, and nobody knows how much time she has left.

Who knew that the loss of one, could save the life of another. Anna Fitzgerald was in a serious car accident, and later ending up dying. Meanwhile she had her older sister, Kate, who's fate depends on if she gets a new kidney. But not everybody is a match; but one person was for sure… Anna. Throughout the time that she was living, she had never wanted to go under surgery to do the transplant. But now since she wasn't alive, it's a different situation. Nobody had the power to make the decision, except for one guy, Campbell Alexander her lawyer from her lawsuit against her parents.

Previously, Anna took her parents took her parents to court for rights to her own body. She felt that they were forcing her to do things she didn't want to do, and therefore she had enough of it and had to put a stop to the cause. There is one part from the court session that I clearly remember. It was when the judge was asking Sara, Anna's mom, about all the medical procedures she's been through. Then Brian started joining in about how sometimes he  didn't agree to what they were doing to Anna; but they knew Kate needed it.  Clearly you can see that both Brian and Sara are only watching out for Kate. It seems like nobody even cares about Anna, because everybody is so focused on Kate and her cancer. Yes I do understand she is fighting a deadly disease but you can't just forget about the world around you after all.

After all this family drama look at what ended up happening in the end. They ended up loosing their "Miracle baby." The one that was born to help save Kate. Her whole life got used for doing everything for Kate. For all this time they were all about Kate, and they kind of forgot about their other kids. So now look what happens, they won't get to spend anymore time with her because she's dead. Surprisingly that wasn't even the person that they expected. I think that Anna's death will create a lot of guilt and also make both parents think about how they were during her life. Throughout all those years I think she was really abandoned by both Brian, and Sara to some level. Mostly Sara because she was only advocating for Kate. Brian, he could actually understand how Anna felt sometimes but still he never did anything to help.

The lesson to learn from reading this book is expect the unexpected, and also cherish every moment of your life. For Anna's parents, they got to caught up with everything going wrong with Kate and then they ended up loosing a lot of time with their other daughter. I think they will really end up regretting how they treated her, and maybe it will teach them a little lesson. Everybody can take something away from reading this, but what I learned is that no matter what your going through in your life, don't forget about other people around you, and also be prepared for the worst no matter what the situation is.

Mood and Tone

Authors Note- This is a journal response about the two songs "Big Yellow Taxi" and "Field Below." I would like feedback on if you agree with the mood.

In my language arts class, we read two poems and then  listened to them. "Big Yellow Taxi" by Joni Mitchell and "Field Below" by Regina Spektor.  "Field Below" lyrics are about a girl or boy that's family or boyfriend left them. When we listened to the song, it was very slow and depressing, and it really made me want to go to sleep.  The way Regina Spektor sang this song, it went exactly with what the lyrics were saying. . The mood, which is the feeling that the author wants you to get  is sad because of what it's actually talking about. Overall the tone in this piece is wishing for something better, sadness, and being unhappy with life.

Joni Mitchell on the other hand, created a different type of song. "Big Yellow Taxi" is about destroying nature, and the overall message is that you don't know what you have until its gone. When we listened to this song, it was more upbeat and not so slow, which actually contradicts the meaning of the song. In my opinion, I think the mood that she wants you to get is to stop destroying nature. The tone is sadness, because she probably lost something that was near and dear to her heart, but again inspirational because the way she was singing the song didn't make me feel like she was sad about anything.

Right to be Free

Do you ever feel like your parents don’t trust you to make your own decisions? Sometimes they forget that you really are mature and you can make your own decisions. But what would you do if they started taking control over your body? Is that taking it too far? Anna Fitzgerald from My Sisters Keeper is sick of her parents having control over her, and her resolution is…Suing them. Not something the average person would think of doing.

Anna Fitzgerald was born with a purpose; to save her sister, Kate. She has leukemia and needs bone marrow transplants and she needs an organ donor. Leukemia is a cancer that affects the blood and the bone marrow. That’s why people with this type of cancer typically need bone marrow transplants and blood transfusions. The long term prognosis for Kate probably isn’t very good because with leukemia it’s a very hard cancer to get rid of and then to keep clear of it, so for the time being everybody is doing as much as they can to save Kate, and hopefully increase the chance of her living longer.

Imagine not feeling loved by your parents. Imagine not getting any attention. Imagine your parents making you give blood all the time and bone marrow, and think about what that would be like. Probably very different from how your life is now. Anna has to go through this almost every day. Recently she has gotten to the point where she doesn’t want to deal with it anymore. Her solution was suing her parents for rights to her own body. In her house all the attention goes to Kate because she’s in the hospital and always sick. Now it’s switching because everybody is trying to stop Anna from suing them. Her parents had her, “The perfect baby” so she could save Kate.

The parents aren’t supportive of anything. They never understand the way Anna is feeling. Sara Fitzgerald, the mom, wants Anna to cancel the lawsuit and just try and work it out between them. Brian Fitzgerald, the dad, actually is starting to understand how Anna is feeling and he is starting to support her with her decision. With all the struggles Kate’s had in her life, she’s supported Anna with whatever she wanted to do. There’s no better support than having a sister that will always take your side and give you advice when you need it.

When you get overwhelmed with what’s going on in your life, you are quick to make a decision like Anna chose to sue her parents. Maybe it wasn’t the best choice, but she went with what she felt was right.
Everyone deserves to be able to make their own decisions and do what they want in life, and if Anna felt like her parents weren’t doing what she wanted then I believe she had every right to take them to court.

Mother to Son Response

In the poem "Mother to Son" there is a lot of figurative language used. One example was when Langston Hughes  said "Life for me ain't been no crystal stair." This means that his life or his past hasn't been easy.  That was probably the most common metaphor throughout the whole poem. The meaning and purpose of the figurative language used is to give you a better idea of how bad his past was, and make it easier for the reader to understand what it was like. Also by using metaphor "Life for me ain't been no crystal stair" it helps you in-vision what his life was like. In this poem the mood is very serious and the tone is inspirational because it's written from his mothers point of view, so it's telling him to keep going in life and never give up.

Anna Fitzgerald

Authors Note- This piece is about Anna Fitzgerald, a character from My Sisters Keeper. My focus for this piece was using figurative language.

BAM, Anna Fitzgerald just walked into Asa Clark Middle School. All eyes were on her… who is this girl? Her slow walk, it looked as if she was trying to go unnoticed. The whole lower level of the school froze, and everybody looked at her. She was a medium height, and fairly a thin girl. The one thing that stood out was her pure brown hair, it was gorgeous! All the students were very welcoming to her. She looked like a really sweet and nice girl.

One girl noticed a distinct smell around and she asked if it was something Anna was wearing. It smelt as good as a freshly cleaned house.  Another thing  that stood out about her was her clothes, she was wearing a very fancy dress. Her clothes really stood out, they were as colorful as a rainbow.  She said it was her Chanel perfume that she had gotten for her birthday. Anna was as quiet as a mouse most of the time but there are other times that she can be very loud and attention seeking. No one knows much about Anna because she is very secretive about her life at home.  People don't know her life story, no one knows who she really is until they know about Kate and her family. Normally doesn't like to talk about Kate and how she has to give Bone Marrow and organs to her.

2012 NBA Championship

There's one chance to win the game. One chance to make your team the 2012 NBA Champions. One chance that doesn't come around very often. What will you do, pass the ball or shoot? There's only ten seconds on the clock so you have to make your move fast.

TIMEOUT! Says the Miami coach.

" Are only enemy is the time. We have need to beat the time!!" If we can't get a quality shot off in ten seconds, we aren't gonna win this game. Lets bring it in 1, 2, 3 HEAT.

Dwyane Wade passes the ball in to Lebron. He squares up... and shoots the three!

SWISH!

THE MIAMI HEAT JUST WON THE GAME!!!.. Said the announcer.

Wow, that was a outstanding win by the Heat tonight. "Yeah, that shot was just awesome" said the other announcer.

Lebron James was the key player in this game tonight. He is was a factor on both ends of the court.

Letter to Andy

Dear Andy Evans,

I will never forget, or forgive you for what you did to me. Not only did you make me feel terrible about myself, you made me loose my self confidence. Freshman year is hard enough because you are the youngest kids in the school, but then on top of just getting raped over the summer by you I had no friends by my side. At one of the lowest times in my life when I needed someone by my side, I had no one. Have some respect. Holding in that secret is just to hard, everyday it just eats right through me and scares me. Thinking that someone could do that to an innocent young girl like me is scary. My wishes for you are to regret everything you've done to me. I hope karma comes around and takes you down one day, because honestly that's about the best you deserve. You deserve nothing good in your life, because of the trauma you've put me through. Just think about that Andy…

~Melinda Sordino

Holding in the Truth

Have you ever had a secret that you held in for such a long time it started to bug you? Melinda Sordino from the book Speak has been holding in a major, traumatic secret. Along with holding in this major secret, things at school aren't going good either.  Sometimes when you hold the truth in for too long it can be harmful to you, and it can cause self confidence issues.

Starting freshman year of high school, you want to have a solid group of friends by your side.  So far things aren't going to good for Melinda. All of her old friends aren't talking to her anymore; they're giving her mean looks and basically acting like they don't even know her.  I mean imagine that, going into a new school, with all older kids and you have no friends.  That's definitely not the way she planned on starting her freshman year. In the summer before freshman year, something happened that would change Melinda's life forever. Andy Evans, an older guy raped her, something she never expected. What she really needs is someone to confide in, but she has no one.

Think of a time that you had no one on your side… that's the feeling that Melinda has every day. The problem is that she doesn’t have the confidence to speak the truth about what really happened at the summer party.  In art class she got an assignment to draw trees. When she drew them, first the trees are dead, which represent how she feels no life inside herself, she feels alone, and she has no one. If she could just put herself out there then maybe there's a chance that people would start liking her, and stop thinking of her as such a bad guy. Personally I know from experience if you’re in a fight with a friend or something and you just talk to them about it usually everything works out. It’s just you have to take the initiative to make the first move.

Melinda never had enough confidence in herself to go talk to anyone, so in her case things just got worse… and worse… and worse. She suffered for such a long time because she had no one on her side. The way things got resolved for her probably wasn't the best but again at some point everything had to end. Andy Evans tried to rape her again, but this time someone caught him. The girl’s lacrosse team was in practice and they heard something so they came to see what was going on, and then they caught Andy. Finally, the truth could be known and people really knew what happened.  Melinda finally got that sympathy and compassion that she always deserved. A knew beginning would start from there on out. People could finally know the real Andy Evans, not the one they all thought he was.

When you have something that’s bugging you, the best thing is to go talk to someone about it. If you don’t do anything about it, you’re not helping yourself. It will just be a problem for you every day until you get the weight off your shoulders. The best thing is to find a friend that you trust and tell them what’s really going on.

Speak

Authors Note- I am choosing a sentence from the book Speak, and then evaluating its meaning.

"The next time you work on trees, don't think about trees. Think about love, or hate, or joy, or rage- whatever makes you feel something, makes your palms sweat or your toes curl. (Page 122)

This is a really important quote for Melinda, because it's giving her inspiration with her art. Mr. Freeman is telling her that when she does her artwork, put your personality into it, and art is basically a way to express all you feelings and emotions.Melinda has a lot of issues in her life, so art is a way for her express her feelings and that's what she really needs. In all of Melinda's art classes, she's normally drawing trees, which represent life. At the very beginning they were dead, and then as the book started getting going the trees started to have more life, so that could represent that Melinda is feeling more alive.

Setting- Speak

Speak mostly takes place at MerryWeather high, and I'm not sure when but it could be any time really because the events that happen are realistic. In this book Melinda, the main character is having issues because none of her old friends will talk to her ever since she called the police on them for drinking at a party. I think since this book mostly takes place in a school, it contributes to the way Melinda feels and is being treated. Since she has to go to school with these people everyday, it probably puts a lot of tension and pressure on her, and she also has to deal with a lot of bullying. If the setting was different maybe she wouldn't have to deal with as much bullying, because when you're at school people tend to gang up on you and that’s different than being outside of school and having one person individually come at you. Melinda would maybe have more friends than or maybe she could at least find someone that understands where she is coming from. Where at her school no one see's her side and everyone hates her now. But I think if the setting was different it would be beneficial to Melinda.

Be Yourself

Have you ever had friend that had a dream of becoming famous? Well Elaine Hamilton from the book Dear Julia has. Elaine doesn’t have very many friends, but this year in school she met a new girl named Lucida. She has always dreamed of being famous, and she will do anything to become well known.  Lucida is also one of those girls that I never happy with anything, and she isn't even happy with herself.  Trying to become someone that you know you can never be is a bad idea, it ruins who you are as a person.

Elaine and Lucida have developed a very good friendship. They each live to very different lifestyles.  Lucida has a family of moms, and she is kind of embarrassed of that. She is very outgoing, and always up for a new challenge. School productions are one of the things she's involved in. I think she does that to try and get a better chance of becoming famous. Everything that Lucida does is always so dramatic and it's always like she has to put on a show. No one does that unless that are trying to get attention, or they are unhappy with themselves. Elaine on the other-hand is just the opposite. She doesn't want all eyes on her. She is a more family orientated person, she'd rather spend time with family and be at home then be out with friends every weekend. Also since cooking is basically her number one passion, she dedicates a lot of her free time in the kitchen trying out new recipes and things.

Lucida is a happy person when she is out with her friends and in public, but behind the scenes it seems like she isn't happy with the person that she really is. If you want to become famous, I understand that, but most people in general don't spend a lot of time in their life figuring out ways that they can become famous. Another  thing that's a little different about Lucida and her family is that she has two moms. I think that's something she's a little bit embarrassed of especially when she goes to her other friends houses and they each have a mom and a dad. But no matter if you have a different type of family or not, you shouldn't be embarrassed of that because everyone is unique in there own ways.

The sad part for people that aren't happy in life is that they aren't living their life up to its full potential. When you are happy with yourself, your days are better and you're a much more fun person to be around. The best thing is don't let other people get to you, I mean you are the person that you think you are and you can  be whoever you want to be. Just accept who you are and enjoy your life.

In Dear Julia, Lucida isn't happy with who she really is. That really brings her down in life, and no one should have to live their life trying to be someone they really aren't. The best thing you can do is just accept who you are as a person, and not try and become someone that you really aren't because that ruins who you are as a person.

Dear Julia Predictions

Authors Note: This piece is for my conference. It is about the book Dear Julia and I made predictions about what I think is going to happen throughout this book.

Have you ever wanted to meet someone special? Maybe it was someone like Justin Bieber or was it a pro athlete? In the book Dear Julia, Elaine Hamilton has always wanted to meet Julia Childs, the French chef. She is her cooking inspiration, and Elaine uses all her tips when she is cooking too.

Throughout the first part of this book, Elaine has been cooking a lot. She has been using a lot of Julia's cooking tips. If Elaine ever has a question about something that Julia says to do while cooking, she sends her a letter about it. Julia hasn't replied to any of her letters yet. My prediction is that by the end of the book Julia is going to reply to one of her letters and also I think they are going to meet somehow. The reason I think Julia is going to reply is because Elaine has already sent her so many letters, eventually she is going to reply to one of them. Or Elaine might get a chance to cook something with Julia, like a cooking lesson or something.  This book seems to follow a comedy so far. Elaine has a pretty normal life at the beginning, she has a family, but the one sad thing about her life is that she doesn’t have a relationship with her mom.  But then once she meets her new friend Lucida she starts to have some mini conflicts. Lucida spends all her time trying to find ways to become famous, but Elaine on the other hand spends most of her time in the kitchen cooking.

Elaine and Lucida are going to have a very interesting journey through this book. While Elaine focuses on cooking and Lucida puts all her time and effort into trying to find ways to become famous. But we'll see if there friendship lasts, and if Elaine and her inspiration, Julia Childs end up meeting.

Wedding

Authors Note: My goal for this piece was to write a creative story using dialogue and voice.

The day had arrived, the day that Morgan and Ben were getting married. All the preparations were made, and everything was finally ready.

Church service was at one, and the dinner started at five. It was seven thirty am and Morgan was just getting out of bed. "OH NO" she yelled, I only have thirty minutes until my hair appointment. She rushed to get dressed, and then ran down the stairs to grab something to eat. A short five minutes later she was in the car driving to the hair salon where she was going to meet all her bridesmaids. At seven fifty nine she was there, and ready to get her appointment started. When she walked in, everyone else was already there including her bridesmaids and her mom and sister. Immediately her mom, Wendy, said "Morgan why are you so late" and she replied "Sorry mom, but I over slept."

Everyone started getting called over to get there hair done. Each girl got a different style, but everyone's hair looked really cute. Once all the Bridesmaids had their hair done, they came over by Morgan to see what she was getting done. "Awww Morgan your hair is adorable" said he friend Rachel.

Thirty minutes later.... everyone's hair and makeup is done and they are leaving the salon. Next stop beach.

"OMG mom I'm so nervous"

"You look beautiful"

"Thank you" (HUG)

Caribbean music being played as she walks down the isle.

While Morgan is walking down the isle with her dad by her side, she is thinking to herself " Wow what does Ben think of me"

His breath caught as he saw her standing there, sunlight dancing in his eyes.

She had reached  the end of the isle. "You look stunning" said Ben.

45 minutes later.....

"And I now Pronounce you Husband and Wife"

Audience claps.... YAYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE END............

Michael Obi

Have you ever met someone that is a "Know it All?" Sometimes it's the really intelligent people that think they always know everything. I  mean no doubt their smart, but everyone is wrong about something, sometime. What about this, do you know of a time when maybe you wanted to get rid of something, but you really didn't know the value of the item? Michael Obi from  Dead Mens Path, got caught in a really bad situation where he didn't know what he was getting himself into.

Michael just got hired to be headmaster at a school. When he started the job, he had good intentions of turning the school into a better place. Obviously he would have to make some big changes in the way the school is run, and possibly the appearance. In his quest to better the school,  he thought that it would be best if he closed on of the paths near the school. Little did he know that this path was like tradition, it had been there forever. He put up barricades in front of it so people couldn't walk on the path. The people in the town, and also the people from the school were very displeased with Michaels actions. Michael was very ignorant to the way the people felt about this, and also what he was doing by taking down the path. That path was very important, and since he didn't want it there that's kind of like a loss for the people. Since Michael was so ignorant, something kind of bad ends up happening to him. You know what they say, "What goes around comes around." The towns people decided to trash his school in order to try and get the path back. If only Michael would've realized that what he was doing was bad, he wouldn't have all these bad things happening to him. But that wasn't the only bad thing that happened to Michael Obi.

Since Michael was doing all these bad things, that the people didn't agree with, he ended up getting a bad evaluation. The lesson learned is that you definitely want to make sure you really know what you're doing before you start, and also be aware about how other people might be effected by your actions.

Basketball Poem

 Biggest game of the year.
State championship.
A moment most players wait for throughout their whole high school career.
  Gym is full to capacity.
There's a change in the atmosphere.
 Tension.
Stay focused.
 Play the game.

TWEET TWEET, the ref just blew his whistle.
Players walk back on the court.
"Break" yelled the player, and the play began.
Time is being wasted, only eight seconds left in the game.
Players  struggle to get open.
The ball is passed in.
The basketball is soaring for the hoop.
Swisshhhhhhhhh he makes the three.
Pewaukee wins against Eisenhower, 58-59.

Basketball Championship

Authors Note: This is a piece for that I wrote for word choice. I would like feedback on if I used good word choice.

It’s the biggest game of the year, state championship, the moment most players wait for throughout their whole high school career. When the gym is full to capacity it changes the atmosphere, and you’re playing for the biggest game of the year, it adds a lot of tension. But that’s when you have to stay focused, and just play the game.

TWEET TWEET, the ref just blew his whistle after the final timeout. 1,2,3 Pirates, “Let’s run the play right” yelled the coach, as the players were walking back on the court. White ball, the ref said; break, the player slapped the ball and the play began. Everyone immediately started moving to their spot on the court, and finally the ball was passed in. The clock started ticking and the fans were starting to yell a little louder. There is only eight seconds left on the clock, there’s only one chance to win this game, the score was 58 to 59 they need a three to win. All the players were struggling to get open for the winning shot, the clock was at 5 seconds and finally one player got the ball and shot a three, swishhhhhh!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO the players all race on the court, and jump on top of each other because they have just won the biggest game of the season! Final score Pewaukee 60 and Eisenhower 59. “Now let’s award our new 2012 state champions, the Pewaukee Pirates!” WOOT- WOOT-WOOT-WOOT all the players are in a circle jumping around.
